Eighth-grader Caden Kiefer has watched his principal at Minerva Park Middle School from afar, noticing how Dr. Garrett Carter has kept a calm presence in the cafeteria and how he reaches out to students when they are sad.

Artwork created by eighth-graders across the District’s middle schools will be featured in a special art exhibition as part of the Westerville Public Library’s Wizards and Wands Festival.

Eighth-grader Braydon Edwards was familiar with drones, but didn’t realize until his current lesson in Jason Siwek’s Engineering Extreme class that they could be an entry point into coding and programming. 

Lucas Ray knew he wanted to join the orchestra as a sixth-grader at Minerva Park Middle School this year. He favored the sounds of the string instruments but didn’t settle on the viola until after taking a couple of orchestra classes.

Members of Minerva Park Middle School boy’s cross country team lined up for the start of their inaugural home meet against Gahanna East High School on Tuesday. Eighth-grader Derek Zastudil joined his teammates with his sports aide at his side. 

Lisa Reed, intervention specialist at Hawthorne Elementary; Katherine Walters, a fourth-grade teacher at Minerva France Elementary and Jill Briscoe, an English Learner teacher at Minerva Park Middle School have been named Westerville Education Foundation’s September Teachers of the Month.
