Food pantries at WCSD schools offer students choice, ownership

Every Friday during the last period of the day, Minerva Park Middle School opens Panther Pantry — a pop-up market stand where students can grab macaroni and cheese, pasta fixings, canned goods, snacks and other donated items for meals over the weekend.

When Minerva Park Middle School students stepped into their new media center at the start of the year, media specialist Beth Baryon wanted to be clear about the space they were in:

“There are 9,759 brand new books in the library,” she told them during their library orientation. “And they are here for you.”

About 1,000 students, staff and family members joined district, school and community leaders for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and school-wide picnic for Minerva Park Middle School, which opens this fall.

The Westerville City School District Records Commission will hold its annual meeting at 5:50 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023, in the Board Training Room of the district's Early Learning Center, located at 936 Eastwind Drive.
